Artificial turf by Playrite provides primary school with safer play
Milverton Primary School in Leamington Spa needed
an artificial surface fitting during the summer weeks especially
for the reception area so the children had a dedicated place to
play all year round. The school, which has been established for
over one hundred years, describes itself as "a community within a
community" who have a well-earned reputation for caring sensitively
for the needs of all of their pupils.
Because the area was for the reception class only, the school
opted for a product with playground safety surface installed
underneath, giving a critical fall height of 120cm. On top of this
the school selected Playrite's Nearlygrass 24, a tightly tufted,
durable turf that can withstand many years of constant use whilst
still being soft underfoot. A mid height yarn that is manufactured
to create natural looking fibres with a 24mm pile height and a
special holed latex backing for good drainage. The whole
Nearlygrass range requires minimal maintenance and needs no
watering or chemical treatments to keep it looking good, what's
more it never needs cutting, weeding or feeding reducing time and
money spent and a surface like this can last up to ten years.
The project was installed by Michael Parkes from Forever Green who
also installed Playrite's Nearlygrass at Baskerville School in
Birmingham. Ben Wilde, head teacher at Milverton Primary School was
very pleased with the Nearlygrass 24 product and is now looking at
having other areas of the school updated with Playrite's range of
artificial grass. He commented:
"We have been really pleased with our artificial turf. The turf
has transformed our outdoor classroom area and now provides us with
a space the children can use outside all year round without getting
wet and muddy!"
