As we move into November many peoples thoughts turn to Remembrance day and paying respects for the hero’s of our services past and present.
Terry O’Hagan, an employee of Playrite, knows better than most the sacrifices that affect peoples lives and is instrumental in his community in fundraising and honouring those in our armed services. Terry is an active member in Golcar British Legion and this year they held a service of commemoration for the 100th Anniversary of the commencement of World War 1.
Playrite were pleased to be able to support this commemoration and show our support for the Royal British Legion.
Belated congratulations to our employee of the month for July, Lynne Hoyle.
Lynne is our sales office supervisor and our longest serving member of the team.
She has been working hard over these busy summer months to make sure that every aspect of our sales office is running smoothly and that customers continue to receive a consistently high level of service, despite the additional demands of the time of year.
Well done Lynne.
Congratulations to our Marketing Manager, Mandy Greenwood, for claiming the accolade of employee of the month for June. Mandy has worked extremely hard on producing some great marketing material lately including our brand new cricket leaflet. Devised to give cricket clubs the information needed to help them make a clear judgement of the beat surface for their needs. As an impartial manufacturer of cricket surfaces we are one of the best placed sources of information to guide a decision maker.
In line with our new website (www.nearlygrass.co.uk) to drive enquiries we have also increased our production capacity with the addition of a new tufter. This will mean increases in production and stock levels and the ability to successfully service our customers in a timely manner.
… then you need look no further than our newly revamped and relaunched nearlygrass website www.nearlygrass.co.uk
We hope you like the new look, as well as finding the site informative for all your domestic artificial grass needs. Keep visiting as we will be continuing to add and overhaul information over the summer.
Congratulations must firstly go out to all of our colleagues and partners that completed the Manchester 10K, during this weekend’s searing heat. Out of the 40,000 people taking part, one of our crew came home in 277th place with a fantastic time of 39mins, 58 secs. A massive well done to all our runners and importantly, what a fantastic amount of money raised for brain tumour research.
This comes just shortly after the success of our Managing Director Andrew Sykes running the London Marathon in a more than respectable 3hrs 2mins!!
We’re looking forward to having a go at some more challenges this year too.
Congratulations to Kate Lloyd, the first of our ’employee of the month’ winners. Kate is a valuable asset to the sales office, especially over the last few months in helping to organise the sheer volume of export orders that have been coming in.

Former World No. 1 tennis player, Bjorn Borg is considered to be the greatest tennis player of all time – winning five consecutive Wimbledon singles titles and six French Open singles titles.
Due to his successful career in tennis, he was the best person to open and play on the new courts at Lightwater Leisure Centre in Surrey. The centre, which is surrounded by protected woodland, offers a multitude of facilities and different ways to make sure people of all ages get the chance to keep fit and healthy.
Constantly making sure that the facilities they offer are the best they can be, Lightwater Leisure Centre decided that they wanted to resurface a block of five tarmac tennis courts into four multi sport courts. They selected Playrite’s Winner 15 product, which is classified to ITF category 4 Medium Fast. The sand filled, tufted surface is manufactured with fibrillated polypropylene fibres to a pile height of 15mm and because the club decided to have inlaid line markings for netball and football the surface is suitable for multi sport use, as well as tennis. This means that the club will also be able to get much more use out of the sports surface and maximise their revenue potential.
The project was managed by Dales Sports Surfaces who have accumulated a great deal of experience working with Playrite products over the past 20 years.
Jamie Banwell-Clode General Manager of Lightwater Leisure Centre was at the grand opening with Bjorn Borg and commented:
“We chose Playrite as their product best matched our requirements for both tennis and multisport use and they came highly recommended within the industry. It was very important to have multi use courts to enable us to maximize our court bookings by catering for a variety of sports.
Thank you to photographer Harriet Armstrong for supplying Playrite with these images.
