Synthetic football turf updates indoor courts

soccer_city_010_322x175Earlier this year Playrite had the opportunity to work on another great project with specialist installers Dura-Sport. This time the project was right on Playrite’s doorstep at Soccercity in Huddersfield and included the replacement of four indoor 5 and 6 aside football courts.

Soccercity has centres both in Huddersfield and Leeds and was established with the aim to deliver flexible, affordable and safe venues for individuals and teams to enjoy playing football. Whether playing at tournament or league level, or just improving skills the professional football coaches are on site to offer training as part of the excellent facilities offered by Soccercity.

The synthetic surface chosen was Playrite’s Conqueror 50, a 3G (third generation) indoor or outdoor surface that is filled with a combination of sand and rubber. The rubber infill allows studded boots to be used giving extra grip and in addition providing extra shock absorption. Installed over Playrite’s Matchpad underlay, Conqueror offers extra comfort and increased playing performance.

With the look of natural grass, the Conqueror range offers similar playing characteristics but with added benefits. The synthetic surface can be used in all weather conditions and can sustain a much higher rate of use than natural grass, meaning that the rate of play can be greatly increased.

Conqueror is available in pile heights of 40, 50 and 60mm and are all manufactured with fine fibrillated polyethylene fibres. Also available is Conqueror 60 MF – the ultimate long pile Monofilament fibre. Soccercity selected the Conqueror 50 surface after speaking with Mark Waite, Playrite’s National Sales Manager and Chris Stevenson at Dura-Sport. Conqueror is a dedicated football surface and meets EN 15330 part 1 standards as well as the IATS FIFA 1 star equivalent and will provide the club with a long lasting, hard wearing surface for many years to come.
